A reliable water supply is fundamental to the success of the Iona Project. Water is essential for both the processing facility and the adjacent feedlot, making the confirmation of a secure, sustainable source one of the project's most important milestones.

In February 2023, 148 East commenced a comprehensive groundwater investigation program to assess the site's long-term water availability and quality. The program tested groundwater yield, water quality and the resource's ability to sustainably support the proposed precinct over the life of the project.

The investigations formed a key part of the project's evidence-based approach to development. By validating the site's groundwater resource before progressing to later stages of design and approvals, 148 East established confidence in the project's long-term viability and created a strong foundation for future investment and delivery.
