Three years of exploration turned into genuine commitment. By late 2021, the case for a regional processing facility had matured from a community idea into a concrete opportunity — and it needed backers willing to put capital and conviction behind it.

In November 2021, four established Central Queensland cattle families came together to form 148 East. Between them, the founding members carry generations of experience across the region's beef country, running cattle on properties throughout the Central Highlands. Their decision to formalise the venture marked a turning point: what had been a collective community aspiration now had private leadership prepared to drive it forward.

Crucially, the founders committed significant seed funding at this stage — the early capital required to fund detailed investigation, secure expert advice and begin turning the concept into a viable development. That commitment reflected a long-term belief not just in the business itself, but in the region's future and in keeping more of the beef supply chain anchored in Central Queensland. It set the direction for everything that followed.
